Remember 80s Music?

80s music

"That 80’s Show is amazing. These guys are highly talented and very entertaining. We love having them here.”
–Tolga Seymen
Entertainment and Production Manager
Muckleshoot Indian Casino
For those of us who lived and danced through the reign of 80s music, it doesn’t take more than a couple notes from some of the most popular 80s music to get our toes tapping along to Talking Heads, INXS, Cyndi Lauper and Devo.

It probably also brings back images of George Michael’s double-ear piercing, Boy George’s androgynous style of dress, and Devo hats. And who could forget leg warmers, parachute pants, tight stone-washed jeans, and heavily hairsprayed feathered hair?

The eighties music scene also brought us the British music invasion with popular bands like Duran Duran, Culture Club, and A-Ha.

One reason eighties music was so influential at the time and still so memorable, was the creation of MTV (Music Television.) MTV made music visual and now we remember our favorite 80s songs right along with our favorite 80s music videos. Good songs and good music videos stick with us.

popular 80s music One of many memorable 80s music videos is “Take On Me” by A-Ha, who used rotoscoping to turn a real-life video into a life-like cartoon video. Of course, Michael Jackson’s Thriller video was at the top of many “best of” music video lists – and still is.

And who can forget the unique costumes of Devo and Village People, and the Talking Heads’ lanky David Byrne in his “big suit” singing “Same as it Ever Was”?
For 80s music history fans, what was the very first video played on MTV? (Answer below.)

Eighties music was experienced first hand by people who are now about 30 and older. Either you grew up listening to it or the songs marked milestones in your teen and early 20’s. Even the younger generations are still listening to songs and bands from the 80s.

Do you miss 80s music? Are you missing Blondie, the Bangles and Bananarama?

That 80s Show brings the most popular 80s music to you! No. Better than that, they bring That 80s Show to you. They bring a performance of the 80s music hits complete with costumes from the bands and performers we remember so well – Devo, Cyndi Lauper, Flock of Seagulls, and more. But more than just a music performance, That 80s Show gets the audience involved for a show nobody will soon forget.

That 80s Show will make a success out of your next corporate event or, stop by to see us at one of our regular shows.

And by the way, the first MTV video was, appropriately named, “Video Killed the Radio Star” by the Buggles.
